Retrograde Tracer Study with a Horseradish Peroxidase of the Innervation of Internal Eye Structures from Midbrain in the Cats(A Nonsynapsing Direct Parasympathetic Pathway)

Abstract
The Possibility of existance of direct parasympatheitc pathway from midbrain to intraocular muscle, ciliary muscle, was studied in cats with using the retrograde tracer substance, Horseradish peroxidase(HRP).
Long posterior ciliary nerves as a postganglionic fiber of ciliry ganglion were the key point to inject HRP for the direct passage to oculomotor nucleus with using nerve stump injection of retrograde tracer substance.
As a result, direct parasympatheitc pathway to oculomotor nucleus could make marks at Anterior-Median nucleus, Edinger-Westphal nucleus, Nucleus of Perlia, motor neuron at medial rectus area and ventral tegmental area(VTA).
